Room-by-room tour of The Hamelin Bay

With its family-friendly spaces and holiday-inspired design, it didn’t take long for the Hamelin Bay to make our list of favourites.

This four-bedroom home is relaxed and easy-going, but with all the features a busy family demands.

We’ve made sure it’s functional, spacious and inviting. We know your needs might change in the years ahead, so we’ve made sure it’s super adaptable too.

Let’s check it out room by room, starting at the front door.

Beachside vibes

The Hamelin Bay stands out for all the right reasons. With its dramatic sloping roofline, painted weatherboards, stacked stone and layers of soft white and green, it’s a happy mix of modern styling and cute coastal hideaway. Even on a 15m-wide block this contemporary beach house offers striking street appeal, complete with a deep porch perfect for sitting quietly and watching the rest of the world rush by

Big welcome

Glazed double entry doors open up into a wide entry foyer filled with natural light. The highlight window above the front doors accentuates the immediate feeling of light, height and volume that is so important in a modern beach house. As for that big, wide entry, it’s big enough for dropping all the essentials when you’re back from the beach or hanging coats, hats, bags and the dog’s lead. And it’s hard to miss the raking ceilings that add to that impressive sense of volume.

Work-from-home

With maximum adaptability in mind, we’ve set aside space for a study but made it semi-enclosed to give you options. The timber shutters mean it can be open or completely enclosed. Your choice. The angled wall makes good use of space while adding an extra design element. You’ll notice we’ve also stopped the walls short of the ceiling, providing privacy but keeping that all-important sense of volume. This is the ideal spot to set up a home office, study zone, computer station or hobby space

Everyone welcome

The minor bedroom wing boasts a guest bedroom and two further minor bedrooms, plus an activity room. It’s a great set-up for families who regularly have visitors to stay as everyone has their own space. Décor tip: Look out for the bold feature wallpaper in one of the bedrooms. The kids will go wild for it!

Utility zone

Why make daily chores any harder than they need to be? We’ve positioned the laundry close to the kitchen for those who need to keep an eye on several tasks at once. There’s also a broom cupboard and linen cupboard in this zone, plus easy access to the garage. The arrangement is perfect for bringing in the weekly shop or putting sweaty sports gear straight in the wash.

Heart of the home

The high raking ceiling makes for an incredible sense of space in this thoughtfully designed kitchen. Whether it’s putting together an easy picnic lunch to take to the beach, or rustling up Sunday lunch for all the family, there’s plenty of bench space and storage to make food prep as easy as possible. The floor-to-ceiling cabinetry offers great storage, and it looks so chic and stylish too. It’ll be hard not to stay organised in the kitchen when you have the extra storage offered by the scullery and walk-in pantry. The island bench is not only a great feature, but there’s no sink or cooktop to interrupt the functionality. It’s the ideal spot for everything from breakfast and mid-morning coffee to after-school snacks.

Reading, relaxing and more

We’re calling it a home theatre, but it’s whatever you need it to be. Maybe it’s the games room? The sitting room? The studio? With its sliding doors to the garden, it becomes a great party space when you really need to spread out. Whatever you decide, this large room adjoining the main living area is a great multi-purpose area the whole family will love. Need it more enclosed? No problem. That’s an easy change to the floor plan.

Your sanctuary

Open the glass sliding doors in the master bedroom and you can start your day by stepping straight outside. Time maybe for morning coffee in the privacy of your own outdoor sanctuary? The high raking ceilings already give the main bedroom an air of resort-style luxury, which continues into the dressing room, and on into the ensuite with its twin vanities and a big walk-in shower.
