The colours of Bunbury, Cape Naturaliste and Dalyellup

Being lucky enough to live in Dalyellup, work in Bunbury, and holiday in Cape Naturaliste, Special Projects Assistant Abbie Wallace was spoilt for choice with photo opportunities.

“Since moving to the south-west, I get to take the scenic route every day on the way to and from work if I want to. I say it out loud at least once a week, I can’t believe I actually get to live and work here.

“One of my co-workers said it best: ‘The south-west really is Australia’s best kept secret and I think anyone who doesn’t make it to this corner of the world is missing out.’”

Abbie’s photo of Cape Naturaliste has extra-special significance, as it was taken on the day she got engaged to her partner of 10 years.

“We were deciding in the car which trail we wanted to take; it had begun raining and it was a toss-up between the falls or the Cape to Sugarloaf in the hopes we might spot some whales. We picked the Cape and as we drove further down south the sun came out. After a 3km walk and a few run-ins with the wildlife – a snake, several lizards and a bandicoot – we arrived at the viewing platform, just as a pod of dolphins went by in the water below. That’s when my partner asked me to marry him.”
