The Country House

To create a home as idyllic as the ‘Country House’, we blended together the key features of two very successful and established designs. Both homes have proven to be exceptionally popular and very liveable, resulting in a design that can openly boast the best of both worlds.
The central portion of this home is truly impressive with its high cathedral style ceiling and towering central heating chimney. Ideal for either gas or wood burning heaters, once inside it radiates a warm friendly environment. There’s also an extra heating alcove at the opposing end creating an intimate and cosy seating area.
Designed to capture both front and rear views and integrate them deep into the free-form living area, the integrated ‘galley’ kitchen is well located to work effortlessly with both the dining area and adjacent undercover alfresco. The deliberate placement of the hot plate ensures the chef of the day is in direct communication with guests when entertaining. We even employed the philosophies of a celebrity chef to achieve the ideal configuration.
To optimise privacy beyond the free-form living space, the home is split into two independent living zones – one for the children and one for the adults. This distinct separation provides privacy when needed without being completely cut off from the rest of the home. The laundry and toilet are perfectly positioned to allow access from outside without having to walk through any other part of the home, great for muddy rural blocks.
The children’s wing has bedrooms large enough for a queen sized beds and all the electronic equipment that today’s children seem to accumulate. The bathroom and laundry are fitted out with first class appointments and there is ample storage in the vanity and cupboards. A unique utility store separates the laundry and bathroom, a useful asset that also creates a simulated chimney on one side of the home.
The adult wing is self-contained, very private and can be accessed from the garage. The large master suite has a generously-sized dressing room and ensuite that features many beautiful appointments including dual bowl vanity. Separating the main bedroom from the centre of the home is the office and home theatre. The latter has been purposefully arranged to optimise comfort of viewing and seating space.
In keeping with our environmental concerns, we have chosen a gas-boosted Solar Edwards hot water system that is extremely fuel efficient and ideal to run on gas bottles. There are also two E-Vents to exhaust hot air out of the roof space, AAA-rated plumbing and insulation as expected.
Like many before it, the ‘Country House’ has evolved from the Rural Building Company’s stable of unique home designs and represents another triumph in home design both inside and out.
